311 Rule

TSA has set the 311 rule into play for carrying on board any liquid items it goes as follows; Make Your Trip Better Using 3-1-1
TSA and our security partners conducted extensive explosives testing since August 10, 2006 and determined that liquids, aerosols and gels, in limited quantities, are safe to bring aboard an aircraft. The one bag limit per traveler limits the total amount each traveler can bring. Consolidating the bottles into one bag and X-raying them separately from the carry-on bag enables security officers to quickly clear the items.

3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottle or less (by volume) ; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3.4 ounce (100ml) container size is a security measure.

Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.

3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.

Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint. Officers may need to open these items to conduct additional screening.

Travel Essentials!

This is a blog for those who are travelers and not vacationers! I have traveled quite extensively and have met and seen many of both and I must say travelers know whats going on! Lets start by getting some basics down for the solitary traveler! Now be advised this is my preference and what I have learned in my years of gypsy living around the world! I start first with essentials to bring and this can be varied to your own needs. Backpack all to essential, NO LUGGAGE!!!!!! To many times I see people getting caught at customs or security because they brought to many items or something on the banned list! Check with your airline carrier I assure you they have a listing for travel! Use it and things go smoothly if not you may miss your flight your choice! Backpacks are very handy and prevent extra costs and they can stay with you at all times which is a must in some foreign countries because of the high risk involved. Check with your travel agent for warnings for travel in the country you are headed to! This could be an issue especially with the tensions towards Americans at present! Miss the good old days when I was just another person seeking out new experiences in the South seas. I only bring a few items depending on where I am headed a few pairs of shorts a few shirts extra pair of shoes and the toothbrush of course. Traveling light is essential it allows you to move quickly and freely about your travels and to know exactly where your things are at all times. I only bring a few toiletries as well your hotel or a shop can provide you with and of these items should you need them. Keep your Id and passport at the ready it will be asked for quite often and make sure you alert your bank of your travels so they do not cut your card off in a foreign country that might be an issue they will see the charges as suspicious and do it for your safety.Oh and let friends and family know as well in case of emergency. OK recap, notify your bank, let someone know where you are staying and what your schedule is, only bring a backpack and a few essentials, keep ID and Passport at hand you will need them more often than not. Oh also I for got to mention make sure you have secured your visas in advance some countries require this and a tax to be paid before entry. In my next post I will get the exact FFA listing for travel with link and I will begin posting about my current travels back to Hawaii soon and Belize definitely in my future! Later's my fellow travelers!
